OBITUARY

MRS. ELIZA MILL INTEREST IN SPORT The death occurred in a private •hospital in Gisborne this morning of Mrs. Eliza Mill, aged 68, widow of the late Mr. William Bremner Mill, of Bexhaven, Tokomaru Bay. The news of her passing will be received with deep regret in sporting circles, where she was well known as the mother of Jimmy Mill, a noted All Black Rugby player. In fact, Mrs. Mill was a keen follower of sport, having taken special interest in the performances of her three sons, all of whom had represented the East Coast in Rugby and cricket. Her husband, the late Mr. W. B. Mill, achieved Rugby representative honors about 1889.

Mrs. Mill, who was born in Tolaga Bay, had spent the greater part of her life on the Coast. She was educated at Tolaga Bay and Tokomaru Bay schools and Was married to Mr. Mill in Waipiro Bay 50 years ago. She resided at Bexhaven following her marriage and made her home at 112 Iranui road, Gisborne, about seven years ago. Until recently she had enjoyed good health and had been a patient in hospital since Friday last. Her' father, the late Mr. Thomas Mill, came out to New Zealand with the British military forces and served in the Maori wars, afterwards settling at Tokomaru Bay.

Mrs! Mill was predeceased by her husband nine years ago and leaves three sons and two daughters to mourn their loss. They are Mr. Samuel Mill, Te Araroa, Mrs. D. Potaka, Gisborne, Mrs. R. Judson, Bexhaven, and Messrs. George and James Mill, Bexhaven. She is survived by two brothers, Mr. Joseph Mill, Tokomaru Bay, and Mr. Donald Mill, Te Araroa. A short service will be held at her late residence, Iranui road, at 2 p.m. to-morrow, after which the funeral will leave for the Taruheru cemetery.
