POSITION IN AUCKLAND Indications of the seasonal shortage of meat on the Auckland market were provided at the Westfield fat stock sales last week, when the prices ruling were the highest since the same period last year. Beef, mutton and lamb reached high ■levels as the result of a number of factors making for short entries in these sections.

One of them was the long-distance factor of the feed difficulty early this year, which forced farmers to sell their stock for what it would fetch. 'More recent was the holding-up of a number of consignments dispatched by rail, slips and wash-outs on the lines preventing delivery.
