JOCKEY CLUB’S PROTEST
LOSS OF REBATE TOTE INVESTMENTS (Per Press Association.) NAPIER, this-day. A protest against the., proposal of the Government to discontinue the rebate of one per cent in taxation hitherto allowed, on the total amount invested on the totalisator and*, its resit L':ant serious effects on the finances of all clubs was made at the annual meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club last night. A resolution was passed urging the Government to reconsider its proposal. “It is ncut at all equ'itable,” said he president, Mr. G. D. Beats on, “It will practically mean the death knell of all country clubs.”
