GISBORNE LODGE MEETING SURPLUS AMALG AM AT lON The quarterly summoned meeting of the Manchester Unity Oddfellows, Loyal Gis'borne Lodge, 6087, was held last evening, .Sister R. W. Wallen, N.G,. ■presiding over a fair attendance. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mr. E. Ellmers, father of a ledge member. A warm welcome was extended to Sister A. W. Tu'te, N.G., at present a resident of Hamilton, who 'was on a visit : to her former home, and to Ero. Harrison. Loyal Hastings Lodge. The secretary, Ero. 'C. H. Ambridge. reported .that the si'ek list was still a long 'one, and a lengthy report was given Iby 'the .sick visitors. Sick pay passed for the 'fortnight totalled £SO. The principal business of the meeting was 'the confirmation of the amalgamation of surplus funds and the amended rules dealing with it. The secretary reported fully on the proposal, explaining the special benefits that would accrue to all members of the surplus fund who had attained 55 years of age and also others on reaching that age. To all members living who belonged to the No. 1 surplus a further death benefit of £SO would accrue, bringing that benefit to sums varying from £.85 to £llO. The following motion was carried: “That the report from the Government Actuary relative to the surplus funds and amendments of rules embodying same be adopted and that all recommendations be carried out forthwith and that an amendment of rules bo registered accordingly.” At the close cf the meeting, community singing was enjoyed, the music being supplied by Sister iMcMath. At the close, supper was served.
