SKIER’S FALL OVER BANK

INJURIES TO HEAD ACCIDENT AT CHATEAU (Pei' Press Association.) THE CHATEAU, this day. Ski-irtg in. a thick mist 500 ft above Salt Hut, Ruapehu, shortly before noon yesterday, George Sampson, a porter at Chateau Tongariro, shot unexpectedly over a 15. ft bank and fell forward on his ski stick, breaking his right front cheekbone and receiving moderate concussion and possibly other head injuries. He was attended by Dr. K. H'iske, of Te Awamutu, the official doctor at the national ski. sports and was taken by sledge and then by stretcher down the road to a waiting bus and then to the Taumarunui Hospital. His condition is serious but is improving.

The snowfall yesterday morning and the rain decided race commitee not to hold the inter-club hut-to-hut race, the concluding event of the national championships, which wilL probably he held on Tuesday-
