BRIEF PROGRAMME

GISBORNE BASKETBALL SATURDAY’S PLAY Owing to the school holidays and the absence of the St. 'Mary’s teams in Rotorua, the A and B grade basketball competitions in Gisborne marked time on Saturday. The afternoon’s programme was shortened further as a result of tho winding-up of the C grade competition the previous Saturday. Actually, only four matches were decided, and one of these was won by default.

Next Saturday will be another break in the A grade series on account of the visit of the Poverty Bay representatives to Rotorua. However, Woolworths are to receive a visit from Kopuawhara, and it is understood that two teams will journey to Gisborne from that district. Saturday’s results were as follows: A Grade Woolworths 16, H.S.O.G. A2 10. B Grade Mangapapa B 21, Y.M.C.A. 1 8. Caledonians 13, Y.M.C.A. 2 11. Cash Stores won by default from St. Mary’s 82.
