GISBORNE JOTTINGS COURSE PROPER OPEN NEW PLYMOUTH RIDERS GORDON RICHARDS’ RECORD By “Trenton” The course proper at the Park racecourse was open for fast work on Saturday morning, but few owners availed themselves of the opportunity. Millions and a full-brother to Tosh hit out freely over three furlongs in 39sec. Tahakarau and Mr. C. Fitzgerald’s Kincardine gelding took 41sec. for a similar distance. Hurdles School Kahiroa took 2min. ssec. to cover a round of hurdles. Sent over the same journey, Whetu took lmin. 48see. and jumped in good style. Plenteous, Blonde Princess, Sly Fox and Dutch Ace all did steady pace work.
Minnow and Reay Bridge have been schooled on a number of occasions recently and show marked aptitude for the game. Lot of Pace Waikawa showed a lot of pace in a sprint up the straight. Mendelssohn was allotted a similar task and appears to be coming along nicely. Horses Named A number of local horses have been named recently. The Kincardine—Valadore colt has had the name of Kindergarten claimed for him. The owner of the Kincardine—Kaikareke gelding has applied for the name of Kinariki. Kahunoke Reappears Old Kahunoke has made another appearance at the tracks, and is e\ idently quite sound. Riders Announced
