INTER-CLUB GAMES During the week-end players from the Bay of Plenty met a team from the Poverty Bay 'Golf Club in intercluj'o games, the home team emerging the winners by a close margin. Several of the Bay of Plenty players are to remain iu Gisborne for the open tournament.
A Sta'bleford bogey match was played on Saturday, the winner 'being N. (H. Bull (6), with a card of 38. Next on the list were R. I. Harrison (2). L. W Bishop (4), and 'M. R. Maude (6) 37! A. E. Guy, from a handicap of plus 2, showed good form to return a card of 3G points.
A four-ball bogey match resulted in a win for R. P. Baigent and A. K. Russell, who finished 7 up. T. J. Corkery and N. Dumont and E. S. Toogood and M. Howe were equal second, finishing six up.
To-morrow players will take part in two qualifying rounds of stroke play for the Poverty Bay amateur champion-ship, with the best 16 scores of the two rounds to qualify for match, play in the championship. The second best 16 will qualify foi the Barrington Miller Cup match play and the 16 best net scores of the remainder will qualify foi match play on club handicaps. The second day's play will ue for match olay in the above three sections, with a Stableford bogey handicao competition over 18 holes to b* played in the afternoon. On Wednesday the semi-finals and finals of the three competitions will be played, a bogey match handicap (in ‘fours) and a ‘ four-ball bogey match also to be played. Losers in the first round of each 16 will be entered for further match play in groups of eightturanganuiclub The following arc the results of matches played by members of the Turanganui Golf Club at the Turn links on Saturday:— Ladies:—Hinekoia Cup, final: Mis. W E. Bullivant beat Mrs. R. Keiha. Medal Handicap: Miss M. Herbert (24), returned a net 74, followed by Mrs. R. W. Halbert, Mrs.. W. L Rangi and Mrs. P. Kaua with a net score of 76, and Mrs. N. Cram net 78 Men:— Handicap Competition: P. Tilley beat D. B. Tennent at the twentieth after a very close game. Medal Competition: The best net cards handed in were: K. Keiha, 65. C Pere, 66; N. G. Anderson, 68; P. Kaua, 68; D. Ross, '69; W. McMurray, 70; T. McMurray, 71. TOLAGA BAY CLUB The final qualifying rounds of the championships were played on the Tolaga Bay golf links during the weekend. Results were as ‘follows:— Seniors. —J. Tuhiwai, 307; V.
