CONSULATES CUT OFF ARRESTS AT SCHOOL CLASHES OX BORDER RIFLES AND BOMBS USED (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Proil Assn.) (Reed. Aug. 28, 2 p.m.) ■LONDON, Aug. 27.
It is officially stated in Warsaw that the German police surrounded the Polish Consulate at Mariemverder, East Prussia, and prohibited egress and regress and disconnected the telephones.
The Gestapo raided a Mariemverder secondary school, the only Polish educational establishment in East Prussia, and arrested l teachers and pupils.
Germans armed with rifles attacked a Polish factory at Lignoza. At Szyglowski Germans penetrated into Poland for 100 yards, _ throwing bombs. Soldiers and militia repulsed the attack.
The Warsaw correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain estimates that nearly 800,000 persons, mostly women and children, have taken refuge in ithe country. There are no plans for mass evacuation.
The Germans also isolated the Polish Consulate at IVlahrisch-Ostrau, Breslau.
