HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIPS RESUME
DULL MATCHES
FORWARDS OFF FORM Y.M.O.A. WIN AGAIN CALEDONIAN LACK STING ROSE BOWL GAMES PLAYED By defeating Caledonian in the resumption of the men's hockey club championship games on the Childers Road Reserve on Saturday, Y.M.C.A. players feel certain of retaining their lead to the close of the competition. They have a lead of three points, and have three games to play. Unless Waituhi can held a strong team when they meet Y.M.C.A., the red triangle boys should have no difficulty in securing the necessary points, even if they are beaten by Foresters A. The men's A grade games were not up to the usual standard. In the main game between Y.M.C.A. and Caledonian the forwards of both sides were definitely off colour, while the match between Foresters A and Waituhi was robbed of interest when the Maoris turned out with only seven men. Owing to the absence of the women’s representative team in Blenheim, the championship series were suspended, and play was confined to Ilaapu Rose Bowl games.
