MUCH PROMISE SHOWN BEST GROSS ROUND 79 COMPETITION AT AWAPUNI The golf caddies’ annual tournament, which took place yesterday at the Awapuni links, brought out a field of over 30, several of the players showing high promise in the game. The best gross round was 79. scored by P. Davis, and the tournament was not without its special feature in the form of a hole-in-one, scored by D. Brooking at the sixth, a tee-shot of 140yds. finding the cup. Results of the competitions were:— Best Two Rounds, Gross.—B. Smale, 30—Si2; cup, and trophy valued at 22s 6d. Runner-up: D. Sweeney, 82—84, trophy valued at 22s 6d. Best Round, Gross. —P. Davis, 79, trophy valued at 22s Gd. Best Two Rounds. —Net. —D. Sweeney, 73 —74, trophy valued at 10s Gd.
