2,000,000 UNDER ARMS
TROOPS RUSH FROM PARIS TRAINS COMMANDEERED FRENCH PREPARATIONS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. August 25, 3 p.m.) PARIS, August 24. The French Cabinet unanimously approved of all the measures proposed by the Premier, M. Daladier. Mobilisatiou continues, a further class involving 150,000 men being called up this morning. Three, more classes would be considered for general. mobilisation which is expected within. 24 hours. It is estimated that 2,000,000 men will be under arms before the night. Special trains are rushing troops from Paris stations almost as fast as they pour in. Many were forced to walk to the stations Owing to the sudden shortage of the city’s taxis and buses, 00 per cent of which the Government have requisitioned. The absence of men on the streets is becoming more marked. Many families have begun to evacuate. All long-distance telephones and telegraph lines have been reserved for military use.
The Ministry of Public Works has invited everyone whose presence is not indispensable in Paris to use the railways to leave the city.
