WORRIED OVER ‘BEER WAR'
WELLINGTON PUBLICANS MEETING NEXT WEEK (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. It is stated that , a number of Wellington. .publicans are restive over the effect of the ‘‘beer war” on their receipts across the bars since many labour Unions have declared the hotels "black” and that, at least, one popular hotel in Wellington intends next week to revert to the did price of 5d a "handle” for beer bought in the .public bar. Another meeting of the Wellington Licensed! Victuallers’ Association will be held next week when the whole question of the “beer war” in relation to the trade will be thrashed out. Meantime, a mass meeting of the complainants is to be held at the Basin (Reserve on Sunday. There will be several speakers.
EXTENSION TO WHANGAREI
(Per Press Association.) WHANGAREI, this day. A meeting representative of workers’ unions decided last night to boycott hotels, and to refrain from drinking, until the price of beer is reduced to sixpence per Imperial pint.
