GEOLOGIST’S ADDRESS “The Oil industry." from the geological aspect, formed the subject of an address given by Dr. L. Kellum, chief geologist of the New Zealand Petroleum Company, at the fort'dg'frdy meeting of the Gisborne Young Business Men’s Club. Mr. A. Silvester was the chairman. Despite the fact thlfit he was dealing with a technical subject, Dr. Kellum presented a. most interesting talk, in the course of which he explained the origin of oil, described the rock stratum in which oil was likely to be found, and gave statistical Information on the production slide of the industry. Dr. Kellum deialt ably with the numerous questions put to him at the close of his address. The appreciation of members of the club was extended to Dr. Kellum by Mr. D. Wells.
