FIRE DESTROYS CAR

OUTBREAK ON ROAI> While on the run between Opotiki and Te Araroa, a 10-seater service car owned by Messrs. Drake Brothers was destroyed by fire on Tuesday. The lire occurred about two miles on the Opotiki side of Hicks Bay. The car had just passed through a small creek when flames began to come up through the floor boards. The three passengers and the driver jumped out and the engine was found to be alight. Attempts to suppress the flames were unsuccessful, and, fanned by a strong breeze, soon swept through the car.
