SUMMONS DISMISSED

HABEAS CORPUS WRIT CHINESE AT TIENTSIN (Recfd. Aug. 24, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 23. Mr. Justice Cnssels dismissed the summons for a -writ of habeas corpus in respect of the four Chinese at Tientsin who are accused of murder. If,is Honour held that no case had been made out that the Chinese were illegally detained. In his judgment His Honour said a writ could not ‘be issued against the Foreign Secretary, Viscount Halifax, because his position in the matter was that of adviser.
