Viscoun-t Bledisloe, as Past Grand Master of New Zealand Freemasons, represented the Dominion at the installation of the Duke of Kent by His Majesty the King as Grand; Master of English Freemasons. The Bishop of Aotearoa, the Rt. Rev. F. A. Bennett, accompanied by Mrs. Bennett and Miss Kuru Bennett, left Kohupatiki yesterday for Rotorua, where he will lay the foundation stone for the new Town Hall. The ceremony will take place to-morrow. Three months’ retiring -allowance has been granted! by the finance committee of the Napier Harbour Board to Captain J. -D. McDonald, formerly master of the dredge J.D.0., who has retired from tthe -board’s service. The board! decided- -to place on record its appreciation of Captain McDonald’s 19 years o-f loyal service. Mr. Barry A. Abbott, A-ucklan-d. has received advice -from London of his appointment to the Colonial Service. Mr. Abbott, who was- until recently associate to Mr. Justice Nor-th-cro-ft, will leave Auckland) shortly for England, where he will study -at- Oxford University for a year before being posted! to Nigeria.
