Sir, —I have received from the Income Tax Department a '.notice and demand on 1940, and, also what they have allowed. This is not law for them to spring this kind of thing on us. Owing to the wide field covered by the taxation net this year —presuming that the new taxing provisions outlined in the (Budget are enacted by Parliament—it has been 'considered necessary to issue assessments well in advance of the date at which payment of taxes is due.
