COASTAL TRADE The Wainui arrived at Gisborne at 4.4 p.m. yesterday from South Island ports and Wellington, and berthed at No. 2 wharf at 10.30 p.m. The steamer completes discharge and loading here to-day and proceeds to Napier, thence Bluff, to commence loading again for Gisborne and Napier. The Pukeko reached Gisborne this morning from Portland, Auckland. Hicks Bay and Tola'ga Bay. The ship sails to-night for Nc.pier, and then returns to Auckland. The Margaret V/. arrived at Gisborne this morning from Auckland, Tokomaru ‘Bay and Tolaga Bay. The vessel departs to-night for Auckland. The Pakura loads at Lyttelton today and at Wellington to-morrow and on -Saturday for Napier, Waikokopu, Gisborne and the Coast. The ship arrives here next Tuesday.
HOMEWARD ''LOADINGS Gisborne Roadstead
Karamea (Shaw, Savill; agents, Dalgety ancl Company), from Auckland, arrived in the Gisborne roadstead at 7.30 a.m. to-day and commenced loading meat, butter and general cargo for London, Avonmouth, Cardiff, Liverpool and Glasgow. It is hoped to dispatch the ship to-night for Napier and Wellington. The Karamea leaves Wellington on August 29 for London, via Cape Horn. Maimoa (Shaw, Savill; agents, Common, Shelton and Company), from New Plymouth, loads meat and dairy produce at Gisborne September 13-14 for London and west coast ports of the United Kingdom. Leaves Auckland on September 21 for London, via Panama and Kingston. Tokomaru Bay Roadstead
Tongariror (New Zealand Shipping Company) arrived at Tokomaru Bay at 7.15 a.m. to-day from Wellington and is loading meal and general cargo for London and west coast ports of the United Kingdom. The .ship proceeds later to Auckland, to be dispatched on August 31 for Southampton and London. RANGITA'NE AT AUCKLAND The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rangitane, from London, via Panama, berthed at Auckland at 8 a.m. to-day. RIMUTAKA FOR AUCKLAND The first port of discharge of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rimutaka, which left London a week ago for New Zealand, will be Auckland and not Wellington as pro- • vided for in the vessel’s original schedule. After working at Auckland the liner will proceed to Wellington. MAIMOA (FOR GLADSTONE The Shaw, Savill and Albion Line’s steamer Maimoa was to leave Oamaru yesterday for Gladstone, Queensland. The vessel returns to New Zealand later and is expected to continue loading for London and other Home ports at Bluff on September 5. The Maimoa will call at Gisborne on September 13 and 14. RECORD DAY AT SOUTHAMPTON In 10 hours on July 7 last 10 occun liners aggregating approximately 200,000 tons gross were handled at Southampton Docks. The inward' vessels were the Union Castle liner Arundel Castle from Cape Town, Hamburg-American liner Deutschland from New York, Shaw Savill and Albion liner Themistocjes from Australia, Cumarri White Star liner Mauretania .from Now York, Canadian Pacific liner Empress of Australia from Quebec. P. and O. liner Stratheden from a northern cruise, and Orient liner Orfot'd from an Atlantic Isles cruise; outward bound were the United States liner President Roosevelt for New York, Shaw Siavill and Albion liner Arawa 'for New Zealand, and Nederland Royal Mail liner Johan do Wi-tt for Batavia. In addition, that night the Southern Railway sent the Isle of Sark, the Isle of Jersey and Lorina to the Channel Islands. Hantonia to Havre, and St Driac on a week-end cruise.
