ROTORUA TOURNAMENT

CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY GISBORNE SUCCESSES (Per Press Association.) ROTORUA, this day. After the second day’s play of the Rotorua open amateur golf tournament the following remain in the championship:—C. H. Wells (Gisborne), S. G. Longuet (Hutt), P. Ralph (Remuera), M. D. Carr (Rotorua), E. S. Toogood (Gisborne), R. H. Glading (Hamilton), R. L. Craig (Taumarunui), and J. E. Stedman (Maungakiekie). Pax Smith, present New Zealand amateur champion, was eliminated by Ralph, .1 up, after Smith had been in a commanding position. Stedman eliminated H. G. Brinsden, the Titirangi scratch player, who is a previous winner of the Rotorua championship. The finals will be played on Friday.
