QUARRY MAN’S FATE

(Per Press Association.) WHANGAREI, this day.

The inquest on the death of Gavin Charles Cotter, who died in hospital on July 19 following terrible injuries caused by an explosion of a drill which he was dressing at the Tauraroa quarry, was held, to-day. A verdict was returned that death was caused by shock following an explosion of gelignite which had accidentally got into the drill during earlier boring operations.
