BELGIAN PEACE APPEAL

PLANS FOR CONFERENCE ACTION IN EMERGENCY (Reed. Aug. 22, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 21. It is stated in Brussels that the Belgian Foreign Minister, M. Pie,riot, would preside at the suggested conference of the Oslo Convention Powers, the aim of which would be the co-ordination of the attitude of neutrals towards problems, in the event of war, for instance the transportation of food supplies, the care of wounded and: the sheltering of refugees.

A peace appeal is being drafted. King Leopold would not mediate. He is a supporter, not the inspirer of the conference.
