Pope (Derby), who scored 121 runs against Notts and also showed (he fine -bowling figures of four wickets for 21 runs. Consistent bowling was provided by Phillipson (Lancaster), who took six wickets for 70 r uns in the first innings against Kent and six for 7G in the second. Derby in the first innings made 31P runs (G. Pope 12i), and in the second 148 (Voce four for 41). Notts in the first made 185 runs and in the second 135 <G. Pope four for 21). Derby won by 147 runs. Northants in the first innings declared with 309 runs Tor seven wickets (Dixon 88, O’Brien 90), and in the second declared with eight wickets down for 156 (Matthews five for 36). Glamorgan in Ih'e first made 296 (Smart 79) and in the second declared with seven wickets down for 222 runs (E. Davies 85). Northants won on the first innings. Gloucester in the first innings made 214 (Sims seven for 109), and in the second declared with 327 for seven wickets (Crapp 101). Middlesex in the first made 247 (Robertson 87). and in the second 108 (Sinfield six for 48). Gloucester won by 186 runs.. Somerset 453 for Eight Somerset in the first innings made 453 .for eight wickets and declared (Gimblett 83. Buse 79. Mcßae 96). Hampshire in the first made 161 (Hazell six for 60) and followed on to make 230 (McCorkell 107, Mayer six for 48>. Somerset won by an innings and 62 runs.

Kent in the first innings made 215 runs (Ames 408, Phillipson six fpr 70) and in the second 244 (Valentine 119, Phillipson six for 76). Lancashire in the first made 252 (Washbrook 79), and in the second 18 for six (Place 86). Lancaster won by four wickets. Worcester in the first innings made 372 runs and in the second declared with six wickets down for 302 (King 148). Sussex in the first made 475 for nine wickets and declared (J. Parks 115 not out, Bartlett 87) and in the second made 200 runs for two wickets. Sussex won by eight wickets.

Surrey in the first innings made 336 runs (Fish-lock 91). Warwick in the first made 115 (Brown six for 46), and followed on to make 220. Surrey won by an innings and one run.

Essex in the first innings made 343 (Wade 84. R. Smith 91, Verity five for 40). Yorkshire in the first made 131 and followed on to make 208. Essex won by an innings and four runs.
