DOMINION PRESIDENTS
SIX RESIDE IN ASIIIiCTTON
A record, unique .in the history of the town, is held by the Borough of Ashburton. This year there are no fewer than six presidents of major Dominion ‘associations resident in: the district. Several other members of local bodies hold offices on committees of New Zealand bodies and others liaVe scats on provincial councils. Those holding the position's of Dominion president this year are: Mr. I-I. F. Nicoll, president of the New Zealand) Trotting Conference; the Rev. Angus Mcßeaii, president of the Methodist Church ot New Zealand; Mr. A. 11. Todd, president of the Association ot Kindred Clubs of New Zealand. Savages and Orphans; Mr. j. B. Cullen, president of the New Zealand Transport Alliance; Mr. F. L. Smith, president of the New Zealand Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants’ Association; Mr. C. Bishop, president of the New Zealand Women's Hockey Association.
There have been several presidents of Dominion industrial and sports organisations in Ashburton during the lasi few years, but there were no! previously so many officers of major bodies.
