COLLEGIATE HOCKEY

GISBORNE AGAIN BEATEN I GROUND A QUAGMIRE (Special to the Herald.) WANGANUI, this day. Playing on a ground that was a quagmire, the Gisborne High Sehoo: earn suffered its third successive defeat at the hands of Stratford Technical High School in the secondary school hockey tournament yesterday. Stratford won the previous tournament held two years ago. The score was four goals to nil. The Gisborne boys were at a disadvantage on the wet ground, and stick work was impossible. However, Pohatu, full-back, and P. Cassin, the goalkeeper, played wonderful games repeatedly stopping the big Stratford players. Gisborne have met now the three hardest teams, and more even games are expected in subsequent matches. This morning, Gisborne was scheduled to meet Wellington College and in the afternoon Wairarapa College.
