WATERLOO CUP COURSING!

(Special to the Herald.) HASTINGS, this day,

With the thitd round of the Waterloo Cup completed, only one Gisborne dog, B. Davis’ White Peak, still remains in the running for' the big coursing trophy which is being run at Lottglands, Hastings. For the events yesterday the hares were strong and in good order, giving the dogs some hard runs and providing the spectators with some excellent coursing. Minor events for dogs beaten tn the early stages of the Cup event were commenced yesterday. The semi-finals and finals of all events will be decided to-day. The Gisborne dog, White Peak, which defeated one of the favourites for the event in China Clipper in, the second round of the Cup event, was again prominent yesterday and had an easy win over Silvermine, another well-fancied dog. White Peak is thought to have a good chance in the semi-finals and is given good prospects of entering the final course. Bland’s Observer, another Gisborne dog which reached the third round of the Cup, was scratched owing to an injured foot. Waterloo Purse Event.

In the Waterloo Purse, an event for dogs beaten in the first round of the Cup, five Gisborne dogs in Nottus, Social News, Radiant Call, Golden Gift, and Air Raider secured victories. In the second minor event, the Waterloo Purse, Gay Peter, My Peter and Dawn O’Day were Gisborne dogs which entered the semi-finals.

An appeal by the owners of Royal Ensign against the judges’ decision in the course with Gay Peter in the Waterloo Plate was heard by the stewards.
