COMPETITIONS BEGIN

GISBORNE FESTIVAL STRONG JUVENILE CLASSES THIS MORNING’S SESSION The opening session of the Gisborne Competitions festival was held this morning, classes being conducted at the Opera House and at the Repertory Society's rooms in Peel street. The festival was initiated without ceremony, and good progress was made throughout the morning, the classes being kept well up to schedule.

"Children’s classes were strong in the elocutionary and dancing sections in particular, and the tap dance fbr entrants under nine years was an especially strong one, over 20 entries having been received, and all but one of the young dancers keeping their engagements.

Only one class was completed, this being the humorous recitation for girls or boys under 12 years.
