DEATH AT 62 YEARS
SCOTTISH POLITICIAN MR. LAIJCI-ILAN WEIR I (Klpc. Tel. Copyright-—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Aug. 21, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 19. The death has occurred of Mr. Lauchlan Mac Neill Weir, Labour M.P. for Clackmannan and East Sterlingshire, and at one time Parliamentary private secretary to the late Mr. Ramsay MacDonald. Born at Port Ellen, Isle of Islay, in 1877, Mr. Weir was educated at the Highland Society School, Glasgow, and at the University; of Glasgow. He became a journalist, entering politics in 1918, when he contested the Argyllshire seat. He disagreed with Mr. MacDonald when he formed the National Ministry, and later severely criticised his former chief.
