Read’s Quay
I Sir',—On; March 21 I wrote the following letter to the town clerk: "I .would like to call your attention to i the fact that at low water I counted 1 some 50 odd bicycle tyres and rims ! on the mu-dflat .immediately below Peel street bridge, on Read’s quay. I do not know which of your departments is responsible for the upkeep of the liver hanks but that such a collection of rubbish . should have ' been allowed to lie there so long is a ! disgrace and who ever is responsible 1 should be instructed to have such an eyesore removed at once.” j In reoly he stated that the matter had been referred to the Harbour ‘Board for attention. That is nearly
six months ago and the tyres are still there. At .the present time when so much is being done to beautify the town it is pitiful,to think that one of our public bodies is so indifferent to the movement that even when its attention has been called to the matter it has taken no steps to remove the eyesore. The holiday season is again upon us and it is to be hoped that as my personal letter has been ignored, the publicity given to the matter in your columns may have more effect JOHN FRASER.
