SHED DEMOLISHED
EXPLOSION IN COVENTRY SUSPECT I.R.A. DUMP SIX MORE EXPLOSIONS DUBLIN POLICE RAIDS (Reed. Aug. 15, 2.10 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 14. A shed on a vacant allotment at Coventry, believed to be a bomb dump of the Irish Republican Army was demolished to-day by a terrific explosion. Neighbouring houses were rocked and hundreds of windows were shattered.
Three men and two girls were seen running from the shed just prior to the explosion. The Home Secretary, Sir Samuel Hoare, to-day made six more orders under the Prevention of Violence Act against Irish Republican Army suspects, bringing the total to 80. In one case where an expulsion order had been made, the man had left the country before it could be executed and a prohibiting order against his re-entering England has been substituted. The other five are expulsion orders.
It is reported that the Dublin police to-day carried out a series of raids on the houses' of persons believed to be associated with the Irish Republican Army. Three arrests were made. The raids were the first to be carried out under the provisions of the Eire public safety legislation.
