STORM DELAYS COLLIER
KAIMAI SEEKS SHELTER STAY AT HICKS BAY (.Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Another of a series of delays by weather, which have been affecting .he ships this winter, is no.v being experienced by the Westport Coai Company’s chartered steamer Kaimai Bringing a full cargo of coal, she left Westport for Auckland On Thursday evening and it is doubtful whether she will reach port before Thursday.
In an attempt to avoid some of the very rough weather being experienced on the West Coast, the Kaimal took the unusual icourse of steaming through Cook Strait and up the .East Coast. The weather proved too severe, however, and advice from the steamer yesterday stated that she was sheltering in Kick’s Bay. No word of her departure had been received last night. In ihe meantime, the Union Company’s steamer' Korowai, which left Westport for Aucklanc’ m Saturday evening, two days after the Kaimai, arrived yesterday morning. The Korowai took the customary route round the North Cape and. although very boisterous conditions were ruling on the West Coast, a normal voyage was made.
