NORTHERN PRODUCE , CABBAGES DEARER Several lines of Pukekohe produce have hardened in price. Cabbages aie now bringing 12s a chapman ‘bag and 18s Gd a sack as against 11s Gd a chapman bag and 17s a sack a week ago. Carrots have jumped in the -period from 'los to 12s a sugar bag and pumpkins are finn at 20s a ewt., whereas last week they were selling at 15s to 20s. The supplies of pumpkins in the district are nearing an end.
Onions are going out freely at prices ranging from 21s to 22s 6d a ewt., -which compares with the rate of 20s 6d ruling at the beginning of the month.
Lines which remain at last week’s values are cauliflowers, parsnips and swede turnips. Cauliflower supplies ■are about equal to the demand and the price remains at 14s a chapman bag and 19s 6d a sack; parsnips are still at 9s 4d a sugar 'bag and swedes
DUNEDIN NEW POTATOES
The first of the new season’s potatoes from Otago Peninsula have been retailed in Dunedin at Is 9d per lb. Owing to the mild weather in the first part of the winter the first supplies have come in earlier than usual. The variety was Jersey Bennes.
