‘DOCTORS NEED NOT TELL’
PJiINCIPLT'I RECOGNISED
CANBERRA, Aug. 3,
The commonwealth Government has adopted the principle that “doctors need not tell.”
An ordinance relating to evidence promulgated in the Northern Territory, which was issued to-day, provides that, as a witness in court, a medical practitioner shall not in any civil proceeding divulge any communication made to him in his professional capacity by a patient without the consent of the patient. The ordinance similarly protects any communication made to a clergyman by way of confession.
