MILK SPILT
MOTORISTS COLLIDE SHOP WINDOWS BROKEN EARLY MORNING MISHAP As the result, of a collision at the intersection, of Gladstone road and Lowe street at 0.25 a.m. to-day a milk-roundsman, Charles Emil I-lind-rup, Mangapapa, was admitted to hospital suffering from injuries to his ribs. ■Milk, from the van which Mr. Hindrup was driving was .splashed in all directions, all the cans which he was carrying being emptied. ■Mr, Hindrup was travelling along Lowe street towards the river bank and at the Gladstone road intersection camel into collision with a motor car driven by Mr. Jack Mastroviteh, Muir street. The force of the impact lifted the milk van, a light English model, from the road and spun it around, the van running back and in between the verandah posts in front of Messrs. Adair Bros. Limited, in Gladstone road. On the footpath, the van spun aroundi sharply and finished up facing back towards the riverbanTc end of Lowe street. The van was carrying eight cans of milk, these being thrown as tire vehicle spun around l on the footpath. Some of the cans struck the plateglass windows of Adairs’ premLses and, as a result, three plate glass windows were broken and some of the stock in the windows splashed while much of the milk was spilt over the footpath.
Two of the broken windows' faced into Gladstone road and were on each side of the main entrance to the shop while the third window faced into Lowe street.
It was necessary for police officers who were on the scene to secure a hose to wash away the spilt milk
