Several Orders-in-Council giving effect to the legislation passed under the Centennial Act last year appeared in last night’s Gazette. These provided for the exemption of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition Com-, pany from the payment of income tax and, in accordance t with the powers conferred upon the Governor-General in a general clause of the Social Security,’Act, exemption from the payment of social security, contributions. Under the Centennial Act provision was made for the exhibition of wines and liquors at the exhibition, and the Gazette extends facilities for exhibitors concerned by authorising them to givet free samples of wines and other liquors, etc., the usual safeguard being provided for any abuse of the facility.
