BOOKMAKER FINED £350
RAID IN DUNEDIN PENALTIES ON ASSISTANTS (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this clay. Yesterday afternoon DetectiveSergeant Hall and Detectives Russell, Marsh and Marshall raided premises in Forbury Crescent, with the result that, later in the afternoon, John Pilin'3 Donaldson, John Charles Tooman and Alexander Malcolm Barron were charged before Mr. H. W. Bundle, S.M.. in the Police Court, with having carried on the business of bookmakers.
The evidence showed that Donaldson, who had been previously fined for a similar offence, had been operating in a big way, a considerable amount of betting material being found on the premises. Donaldson was fined £350 and the other two defendants, who were employees, £25 each.
