NATIONAL DOUBLE WON TRIPLE DEAD.HEAT ISLINGTON HANDICAP HAUGHTY WINNER SCORES (Ter Press Association.t CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting was continued in fine weather yesterday at Riccarton. There was a good attendance. The track was in excellent order. A record was created for the course when a triple dead-beat was awarded in the Islington Handicap between Lowenberg, Tidewaiter and Settlement. The “tote” handled £40,012 10s., compared with £44,595 10s. on the second day last year. Results: Hunt Cup Steeplechase, of £500: about miles; —1-1 Bridegroom, 12.0 (A. Jenkins), 1; 5-5 Night Wind, 9.0 (Register), 2; 2-2 Tom Cat. 9.7. car. 9.10 t (A. Stove), 3. Also started: 3-3 Red Terror 90 car. 9.7.;, 4-4 Panara 9.0 car. 9.2.',. Bridegroom and Torn Cat led over the Kennels’ double from Red Terror and Panara, with Night Wind tailed off. Bridegroom and Tom Cat were together crossing the top and were followed over the carriage paddock fence by Rod Terror and Panara. Tom Cat fell at the second of the stands double, bringing down Red Terror and Panara. Bridegroom was left with a commanding lead from Night Wind, and won by almost a furlong from Night Wind. Red Terror and Tom Cat were remounted some time later and, in an interesting contest, Tom Cat beat Red Terror by a neck for third place. Time, 5.30.
Sumner Handicap, of £300: 9 fur-longs.—3-3 Windsor Chief, 3.13 (P. Burgess), 1; 5-0 Wagner, 9.0 (A. E. Didham), 2; 7-5 Dranoel, 3.3 <M. Caddy). 3. Albo started: 2-1 Aurora’s Star 9.1, 8-8 The Wrecker 9.0, 4-4 Captain Bruce 3.10, 0-7 Hunting Chorus 8.5, 10-10 Brilliant Boa 8.4, 9-9 Little Robin 8.0, 1-2 Indian Sun 8.0, 11-11 Etzel 80, 13-13 Full Back 8.0, 14-14 'Comus 8.0, 12-12 Tint o’ Tan 8.0. Comus and Little Robin were the early leaders and, rounding the far turn, they were attended by Wagner, Captain Bruce, Indian Sun and Etzel. Crossing the top, Comus and Dranoel had charge from Etzel, Little Retain, Aurora’s 'Star, Indian Sun, Wagner and Windsor Chief. Dranoel led into the straight from Aurora’s Star. Etzel. Little Robin, Indian Sun, Wagner and Windsor Chief. The last named drew out to beat Wagner by a length, with Dranoel a head av/ay. Indian Sun was fourth. Time, 1.50 2-5.
Beaufoid Steeplechase, of £700; 2 '< miles.—l-1 Slayer. 10.10 (A. Jenkins), 1; 2-2 Hanover, 103 (J. Mcßae), 2: 5-5 Gold Wren, !0.5 (A. Stove), 3, Also started: 4-4 Mnnawatu 9.10, 3-3 El Caballo 90. When the Kennels’ double hau been crossed Hanover had charge from Gold Wren, Slayer, Ei Caballo and Manawatu. Hanover was well clear of the field passing the stands and entered the back four lengths ahead of El Caballo, Gold Wren and Slayer, together, with 'Manawatu some distance Lack. Hanover held his lead over the Kennels’ double and crossing the top, but coming to the last fence the order was Hanover, Slayer, Gold Wren, El Caballo and Manawatu. Slayer finished resolutely to beat Hanover by a neck, with Gold Wren 12 lengths away. El Caballo was fourth. Time, 5.9. ‘

When the field settled down Boloyna and Kaiwaka had charge from Ohmaha, Muriet, Gay Hunting, Gemara and Rex Maitland. Boloyna and Kaiwaka held their place crossing the top and were followed into the straight by Ohmaha, Flame Queen and Rex Maitland. In a close finish Kaiwaka beat Boloyna by a head, with Rex Maitland three lengths

Also started: G-5 Erination 11.5, 4-4 King Key 10.10. 7-7 Travenna 10.7. 8-8 Agog 9.7, 5-G Disturbed 9.6, 9-9 Lustral 9.0. King Rey was soon in charge and was followed round the far turn by Charade, Erination, Aussie Ra and Padishah. Passing the stands, King Rey was three lengths clear of Charade, with five lengths to Aussie Ra, followed by Padishah, Erination and Agog. With a mile to cover. King Rey, Charade, Aussie Ra, Erinalion. Padishah, Lustral and Agog was the order. Charade joined King Rey in the lead and, passing the four-fur-long post, they were closely attended by Padishah and Aussie Ra. Padishah moved up coming to the last fence and drew out in the run home to win by two lengths from Aussie Ra, with Charade a similar distance away. King Rey was fourth. Time, 4.50 3-5.

Also started: 1-1 Chat 10.0, 5-5 McHeath 10.1, 0-0 Round Score 9.4, 7-7 In the Dark 9.0. Round Score led ever the first fence from McHeath and In the Dark. At the jump in front cf the stands, both In the Dark and Chat came down. Round Score was followed into the back by McHeath, Begorrah, Jewish I,ad and Tutor. Round Score fell at the far turn to leave Begorrah in front crossing the top from Jewish Lad. McHeath and Tutor. Begorrah and Jewish Lad were together at the last jump, but Begorrah drew out to win by three lengths from Tutor, with Jewish Lad two lengths av/ay. McHeath was fourth. Time, 3.10 4-5.

First to show out were Silver Slipper, Dungarvan, Night Dress and Liane. Gay Rebel and Silver Slipper were the leaders going along the back, with Liane. Might, Lowenerg and Dungarvan close up. Silver Slipper and Gay Rebel held their positions crossing the top arid wore followed into the straight by Lowenberg, Liane, Might, Kena and Balmenter. In a thrilling finish Lowenberg, Settlement and Tidewaiter crossed (he line together and a triple dead-heat Was the result. Balmenter was fourth. Time, 2.8 3-5.

Also started: 5-5 Black Thread 9.13, 4-4 Gay Chou 9.3, 12-12 Silver Streak 9.2. 9-11 Counterblast 9.0, 3-3 Mittie 8.12, 8-8 Grey Honour 8.0, 0-0 Ruling Spi 8.3. 1-2 Strip 8.2, 10-10 Wine Card 8.0, 15-14 Straightdel 8.0, 14-10 Norseman 8.0. 17-17 Wailaka 8.0, 13-13 Roy Bun 8.0, 10-15 Spartan 8.0. When the field had settled down Ruling Spi and Grey Honour were in charge from Mishna, Waitaka, Strip and Black Thread. Crossing the top, Ruling Spi and Grey Honour were still in front and were followed into the straight by Mishna, Waitaka, Haughty Winner, Toolcy Street and Strip. Haughty Winner finished well to beat Mishna by a neck, with Tooley Street half a length away. Silver Streak was fourth. Time, 1.2 C 4-5.
