GARDEN CIRCLE MEETS (Herald Correspondent.) A very pleasant afternoon was spent at the home of 'Mrs. Eraser last Tuesday, when a fair attendance was present for the Kawakawa Garden Circle's monthly meeting. 'Both president and members were sorry when .Mrs. Cowan, after four years as secretary to the circle, asked to be relieved of the position, which Mrs. Branson agreed to fill. Mrs. Cowan remains a member.
A reading on “Flower Families” was given toy Mrs. Hughes, the main topic of the afternoon being “Kinds of Gladioli."
The social competition was won by Mesdames IHughes and Taylor. Garden Circle competitions resulted. —'Novelty centre piece: Mrs. 'Hughes, 1; Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Fairlie, tie, 2. Vase of annuals: Mrs. Cowan, 1; Mrs. Hughes 2; Mrs. Branson, 3. Vase of 'bulbs: Mrs. 'Hughes, 1: Mrs. Fairlie, 2; Mrs. Branson, 3. Marmalade oranges: Mrs. Halli'well, 1; Mrs. Hughes, 2; Mrs. Cowan, 3. Juniors.—Novelty centre piece: M. Hughes. 1; C. Halliwell and D. Cowan, tie. 2. A delightful afternoon tea served toy the hostess ended the meeting.
