VICTORY TO AUSTRALIANS (Reed. August 10, 1.45 p.m.) MELBOURNE, August 10. The Badminton test for the Whytc trophy ended at 11.30 o'clock hist night in victory 'lor Australia, who scoretl seven rubbers, 10 sets 317 points, to New Zealand's live rubbers. 12 sets, 303 points. The gallery totalled 900 .spectators. A feature was the match between McCabe the Australian champion, and Roussel. McCabe won by liis unfailing accuracy. Results of play were, the Australians being mentioned first in each instance: — Miss Harper defeated Miss Pearce, 11—15, 15—5, 18—14. Misses Hewett and Robert defeated Mrs.'Wren and Miss Fleming, 15 —12, 15—11. McCabe defeated Rousscll, 15—12, 15—3. Tonkin and Miss Cuthertson defeated Speddiiicr and Mrs. Wren, 15— 11, 15—4. Miss Robert lost tb Miss Fleming, 11—7, 9—12, 3—ll. Mrs. Wray and Miss B. Cuthbertson lost to Mrs. Hawksworth and Miss Kerr. 4—15, 2—15.
