&TORTFORD LODGE SALE EWE HOGGETS IN DEMAND CHILLERS MAKE TO £9 In a yarding of 6000 store sheep at Stortford Lodge sale yesterday, quality was well represented, and values held firm on the rates ruling last week. Ewe hoggets were the feature o£ the sale, insofar as stores were concerned, a keen dmand f° l ' this type developing, the better lines bringing up to 'zvs 9d. Two-tooth ewes in"lamb made up- to 24s Id, and wether hoggeis sold at up to 15s sd. A line of 142 ewe hoggets from Nuhaka, in fresh store condition, brought 18s lOd, and another line of-76, fresh-conditioned, sold at 18s. Mixed-aged ewes, in a line of 152 offered en account of Mr. Hunter Brown, Waituku, in lamb to Southclown rams, made lis 3d; but another lot of four-year ewes, bigger of frame and offered on account of Mr. Gordon McCauley, Kaiwaka, made 18s Cd. Chiller bullocks were in demand, and recent rates were maintained. Among the offering of stores was a draft of 29 P.A.-Hereford cross cows, mixed ages up to six years, in fair order, which brought £3 ss; and a Nuhaka draft of 31 2i-year-old Hereford heifers, depastured with HereCord bulls, a medium-conditioned loj, which sold at £3 12s Gd. Another Wairoa lot,. comprising 39 yearling P.A.-Hereford cross steers, in fair store condition, was passed at £2 15s. The best chilling lines, drawn from the Havelock Trills and the coastal area towards Porangahau, sold up to £9.
