RAILWAYS PROMOTION
HEAD OFFICE POST (Per Preas Association.) . WELLINGTON, this day. Mr. G. L. Anderson, who has been attached to the staff division, head office, Wellington, for nearly 20 years, has been appointed as assistant staff superintendent of New Zealand railways.' He succeeds Mr. A. J. Levick, who was appointed as staff superintendent when Mr. A. Urquhart retired on superannuation recently after 40 years of service with the department. Mr. Anderson joined the service in Auckland in 1902 and received his early training at various offices and stations in that district. He was appointed as assistant relieving officer in 1913 and, after serving in that capacity for two years, was transferred to a position as staff clerk in .the office of the district traffic manager, Auckland. After five years in Auckland, Mr. Anderson was transferred to the head office, Wellington, where he was attached to the staff division and has occupied in turn the position of clerk, senior clerk and staff assistant. This experience, allied to his extensive knowledge of station and district office work, it is stated, well qualifies him for the important position to which he has now been appointed.
