Last Night's Forecast To-Day's North Island Report Barometric pressure at North Island stations to-day was closely approximate to that prevailing yesterday. Tile temperatures were in much the same range, Cape Maria van Diemcn reporting 59 degrees, Tauranga 58, Gisborne 57, and others ranging clown to 50 at Wellington; Napier had a sharp frost, and the 9 a.m. temperature was only-42 degrees. Cairn conditions prevailed at most stations, the main exceptions .being Gisborne, with a moderate .north-west breeze, and Cape Palliser, with a strong breeze from the same quarter. Blue skies were reported from Cape Maria, Auckland, Tiritiri, Opotiki, Gisborne, and Napier, and cloudy conditions from Tauranga, East Cape, Cape Palliser and Wellington. Visibility was good to excellent everywhere, and seas were smooth to moderate except at Capo Palliser and Wellington, where rough seas were reported. Midday Forecast General .situation: A complex and very extensive depression covers New Zealand with the lowest pressure in the south. Forecast: Light to moderate northwest to westerly winds, freshening at times; a fewi scattered showers probable but weather mainly fair to fine and mild. Seas: Slight !o moderate.
