WAIKOHU GOLF

CARAVANS AT LINKS ANOTHER HOLE IN ONE (Herald Correspondent.) 'Members of the Waikohu Golf Club are taking full advantage of the fine weather, and i't is not an uncommon sight to see 'caravans at the links during the week-ends. The club handicap matches are in .progress, and lady .members should play the semi-finals by next Saturday. The final of the men's handicap was played under ideal conditions between E. Ruru (13) and J. L. Clarkson (13). Keen interest was taken in the match, E. Ruru proving the winner. The holders of the Chub Ferns, J. V. Clark and 'Mrs. .Clark, lost to E. Ruru and Mrs. C. Gaukrodger, who, in. turn, were defeated on the challenge of W. V. Lutirell and Miss L. Ruru.

. During the week-end Mrs. T. L. Earnshaw achieved the honour cf being the first lady member of the club to hole in one. Mrs. Bullivant. a visitor from the Turanganui club, is the only C'.ber lady player who has had similar success on these links. Visit to Gisborne Park Club

On August 13 an inter-club match will be played on the Gisborne Park Club’s links. The match will be a

four-ball, best ball, commencing at 1 p.m., and the team selected is as fellows: W. V. Luttrell and J. L. Clarkseo, E. Ruru and R. Hutchinson, F. Belleiby and H. Sidney, R. Fisher and S. Te Pa a, A. D. Wallace and R. Gould, R. H. Brc wo and L. Spence, Mesdames R. Hutchinson and J. V. Clark, .Miss L. Ruru and Mrs. C. Gaukrodger, Mesdames D. Burnett and Gregory, Misses M. Alexander and N. J'amieson, Miss Josephine Scot't and Mrs. Earnshaw, Mrs. H. O’Connell and Miss Juliet Scott.

Players .are to notify the secretary as soon as /possible if transport is required. Arrangements are well in hand for the Golf Ball, to be held this week, and it is anticipated that the many special features to be introduced will make the .function an unqualified success.
