The death has occurred at the age of 75 years of Mr. James Ashton, a notable figure in the commercial and political life of New South Wales
He was the chairman of the Commercial . Banking Company, Sydney, Limited and until recently was the ■•’hairman of the Mutual Life and Citizens’ Assurance Company Limited. He was a member of the Legislative Council and a former Minister o; Lands.
He was the father of the four well known polo players.
