STARS OF OTHER DAYS
SPORTS QUEEN CAMPAIGN SPECIAL RUGBY FEATURE Followers of the Rugby code in Gisborne who find more interest in the stars of other days than in those who now carry on the game actively will welcome the announcement that a special Rugby feature is being arranged in which players prominent in earlier years will take part. The match has been provisionally set down for September 2, and should prove an excellent draw for the public. Old-timers among the Rugby champions of the district have taken up the scheme enthusiastically, and there is every likelihood that two teams of top-line players will be available, including a number who have worn the All Black jersey.
It is hoped that as a result of the game the campaign funds of the sports candidate for centennial queen honours will benefit, and the Rugby Union is to be invited to co-operate with the organisers by giving the match a prominent place in its bill for September 2.
