TEST OF DEFENCES
V7ELLINGTON FORTS FORCES CO-OPERATE (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. A convincing demonstration of the efficiency of Wellington's defences ■against naval attack, was given, at the wee'k-end w/hen exercises' 'in which the three services co-operated were held off the (head's. 11.M.5. Leith, representing an enemy cruiser, engaged the batteries ,at Fort Dorset and' Palmer Head in mock bombardments, and also attempted to enter the harbour under cover of darkness. She was unable to escape detection by the searchlights, however, Four Blackburn Baffin bombing planes did reconnaissance work and staged ai bombing "attack” on the Ship.
