Last Night’s Forecast General situation: The anticyclone which covers the Dominion is now moving slowly eastwards, and pressure i? falling under the influence of a depression to the north and another in the western Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds between north and east predominating, mainly light to fresh in force but becoming strong in exposed positions in the Auckland province. Sea?: In New Zealand waters rather rough from East Cape northwards and south of Westport, elsewhere, slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sep.: Winds between east and north, strong to gale force but decreasing in tne northern portion with rough seas, moderate in the southern portion with moderate seas. Weather: For the most part fair to cloudy at first, but becoming unsettled in the far north, with rain developing and scattered rains later extending to other areas. Tempera - lures: Rather milder, but cold tonight with frosts probable. To-day’s North Island Report Favourable barometric readings and low temperatures were recorded at all North Island stations this morning. Cape -Maria van Dieinan returning a temperature reading bf 57 degrees, Casllcpoint 53. Tiritifi. and Wellington 51, and others ranging down to 46 at Gisborne, arid 41 at Napier and Tauranga. Calms were prevailing almost everywhere along the coast, light breezes elsewhere, with blue skies at most stations. Visibility was good, and seas smooth to moderate except at Castlepoint and Wellington, where rough conditions were reported.
