FIJI ISLANDS VISIT ROUND OF CEREMONIES NATIVE PRESENTATIONS (Elec. Ti'l. Copyright—United Press Assn.) ('Reed. Aug. 5,2 p.m.) SUVA. Aug. 5. The Governor-General of New Zealand, Lord Galway, and Lady Galway yesterday visited the Island cf Ban, the ancient Fijian capital, where 'they were entertained with traditional native ceremony. From the mainland the visitors crossed the short distance to the island -by native canoe. They were received at Bau by R'atu Isireli Tawake, high chief cf the district. In the Council House, built on the site of the old heathen temple, ceremonial .presentations were made. They included a whale’s tooth, 'which is always presented to persons -of rank, and the root of kava, followed by the ceremonial making and drinking of kava. In accordance with custom, a large presentation of food was made.
After a native luncheon, the visitors were entertained by native dancing. This morning, Lord and Lady Galway left on a -tour of Vitilevu, including visits to the Tavua goldfields as the guests of 'Mr. E. G. Theodore, and Lautoka. They are returning to Suva on Monday.
