NO IMMEDIATE RISE
PROSPECT IN CAPITAL REORGANISATION URGED (Per Proas Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Inquiries made to-day suggest that it is unlikely that there will be any immediate increase in taxi fares in Wellington as a result of the increase in the petrol tax. The 'manager of a leading taxi firm said it was anticipated that the additional cost to the industry in 'Wellington would amount to 'between £3OOO and £4OOO a year, tout there was some opposition to passing this on to the .public. He expressed the view that what was needed in Wellington was a complete reorganisation of the •business to .reduce overhead costs and give the public a more efficient service.
