WINNER OF £2OOO
RESIDENT OF WAITARA TICKET PLACED IN BANK (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, this day. Mr. T. E. Astwood. a retired farmer living at Waiitara, was 'the winner of the first prize in the Golden Dawn art union drawn last Monday. Despite diligent inquiries since then, Mr. Astwood remained hidden in anonymity till yesterday, when he revealed his identity, thus destroying the hopes of any who might be searching for lost tickets. Mr. Astwood’s ticket is lodged an. a bank vault.
Mr. J. Mildenhall, of Waitara, single, a motor mechanic, was reported yesterday to have stated that, though he had lost the ticket the circumstances under which lie had purchased it caused him to use a similar pen name and that he had been recognised hy the man at New Plymouth from whom he made the purchase.
